Admittedly, I’ve never been impressed by the Tomb Raider series. The frustrating platforming, one dimensional protagonist, uninspired gameplay, and laughable story never really did it for me. However, after checking out this trailer, I can safely say the Tomb Raider reboot is one of my most anticipated upcoming games. Maybe the most anticipated. Crystal Dynamics looks to remedying every issue I ever had with the franchise while delivering some visceral, truly cinematic gameplay. Not only to they appear to be giving Croft a nice character arch and providing her an emotional anchor for the audience to invest in, but if the trailer is any indication, they are implementing an arch to the gameplay as well. As the game progresses, she rises to the occasion, transforming from a scared kid to someone capable of defending themselves and surviving. Exciting stuff.
