Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is the game that nobody talked about at E3 this year, and that’s a shame. Maybe it’s because they were intimidated by the name that doesn’t make any sense, but Rising is looking amazing, and I feel like it’s my duty to give it some credit here on At The Buzzer.
I’m just getting through Metal Gear Solid 4 (just fought Crying Wolf. Weird encounter), and am definitely looking forward to the next installment in this saga. I’m a huge fan of the popular franchise, which is why I’m surprised Rising’s not getting more love. Yes, you take control of the much hated Raiden again for Rising, but his redemption as an insane, unstoppable, cyborg ninja in Guns of the Patriots did a lot to improve his image. And, as the trailer demonstrates, the game just looks fun. Platinum Games, the developer behind Bayonetta, ensures the game will feature fast, fluid, sharp gameplay, and who doesn’t want to hack down opponents with a sword that can cut through anything? The story will probably be over the top, to which I respond “What Metal Gear game isn’t?”

With standard four-quels like Halo 4, Gears of War: Judgment (Baird? Freaking Baird? Vomit), and God of War Ascension, it was nice to see a title that’s its series in a new direction, even if it’s a spin-off. View the trailer below and see why Rising is going to be better than anyone thinks.
