I see a lot of movies. I enjoy them. But rarely do I get legitimately excited for a film. Now that Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises sufficiently rocked my world, there is only one movie currently in production that has me frothing at the mouth. That movie is Skyfall.
Casino Royale is one of my favorite movies ever, and while I think Quantum of Solace is still a good Bond flick (it’s like Hamlet compared to Die Another Day), it didn’t quite measure up to its predecessor. Based on these early trailers, though, it seems like Skyfall is taking a page from Royale’s book and is focusing on a compelling story as much as white-knuckle action. 007 films are at their best when they’re exploring the fragile psyche underneath Bond’s veil of hardened badass, and this trailer indicates Bond’s “death” might take him to some dark places…as does his run in with Silva, played by No Country For Old Men’s Javier Bardem. If he’s as terrifying here as he was in his Oscar winning performance, fans are going to have a treat come this November.
Oh, and Q looks amazing.
Call it, friendo. The trailer’s below.

I really think that Bond sticking the train landing and then adjusting his cufflinks like it was nothing is the best shot in the trailers I’ve seen.
