Over at io9 they managed to snag themselves quite a Pacific Rim exclusive!
It’s video filled with a number of behind the scenes details on the Kaiju that’ll be showing up in the film. For those of you that are sitting there saying to yourselves, “WTF is a ‘Kaiju’?” Fear not! Wikipedia is here to help you. Basically, it’s a Japanese word meaning “strange creature” that has grown to pretty just just mean “the monster from monster movies”. From Godzilla to the Cloverfield monster, if it’s large and likes to nom the cities it’s probably a Kaiju.
Now I grew up watching just about every Godzilla movie under the sun, and was one of those kids that always drew monsters and killer aliens and stuff. So as you can probably imagine, I’m excited about Pacific Rim! The general consensus on the internet seems to be mixed though. Some people think the movie is over-hyped, while others just think it just looks stupid (“It’s like Power Rangers or something right?”).
