Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor: Why we shouldn’t care anymore

Jesse Eisenberg was cast as Lex Luthor. Some people hate it. I’m sure somewhere, someone loves it. Me? I just don’t care anymore.

Here’s where I stand – just let DC do their thing. Aside from Henry Cavill, they haven’t had a single casting choice that’s made sense. Gal Gadot. Ben Affleck. And now Jeremy Irons is Alfred…okay, that one’s kind of cool….

They’re not going to incorporate the Arrow TV show, or Stephen Amell for Green Arrow in the eventual Justice League film. Right now, it almost feels like DC is going for shock value on their casting – the only problem is that, in their attempts to mirror the unorthodox choice of Heath Ledger for Joker that worked out tremendously, they’re forgetting everyone else in Nolan’s Batman cast made sense, from Christian Bale to Michael Caine, and even Tom Hardy as Mistuh Bane.

But whatever. If DC wants to get crazy with their casting, more power to them. And maybe these casting choices are going to kill it. I’m just tired of the internet backlash every time – it’s like they’re manipulating us into shock value, and it’s working. Let’s just hold off judgement until we actually see the film, and can judge the cast and characters in actual context.
