A remastered Phoenix Wright Trilogy for the 3DS was announced today, and with it, all my dreams come true. Releasing in Winter 2014 (so soon!), the trilogy will include high quality versions of the first 3 games. That’s right – … Continue reading Phoenix Wright Trilogy Announced for 3DS

“24: Live Another Day” Premiere – The Game of Thrones before Game of Thrones

May 5, 2014 Shaun

The new season of 24 premieres tonight, and I’d like to use this fact as a jumping board for my own tangential rant. I think people easily forget that Game of Thrones is not the first of its kind. It’s … Continue reading “24: Live Another Day” Premiere – The Game of Thrones before Game of Thrones

3DS Sequel to Ace Attorney 5: Dual Destinies Announced – Not Starring Phoenix Wright

April 23, 2014April 23, 2014 Shaun

Earlier this week, Capcom revealed a sequel to the 3DS MASTERPIECE Ace Attorney 5: Dual Destinies. However, calling it a “sequel” is a bit of a stretch – if anything, the game can only be classified as a prequel, and … Continue reading 3DS Sequel to Ace Attorney 5: Dual Destinies Announced – Not Starring Phoenix Wright

March 6, 2014March 31, 2014 Shaun

This past week, my sister and I decided to conduct a social experiment. No, it has nothing to do with Twitch Plays Pokemon – rather, she was going to write a review of The Walking Dead: Season 2, Episodes 1 … Continue reading Review: My sister watches The Walking Dead: The Game Season 2 – Episodes 1 and 2

March 5, 2014March 5, 2014 Shaun

Arrow just released a trailer for its mid-season (which apparently we’re calling season 2.5 now), and continues to make its case for this iteration of the Green Arrow being integrated into the Justice League film. First Image of the new Flash – Grant Gustin as Flash in Justice League Movie

February 28, 2014February 28, 2014 Shaun

I did this already with Stephen Amell and Green Arrow, but I’d like to make a case for Grant Gustin, the new TV Flash, as being the Flash in the Justice League movie. We’ve already established that DC’s television properties, … Continue reading First Image of the new Flash – Grant Gustin as Flash in Justice League Movie

Why Grand Theft Auto 5’s Torture Mission is important

February 23, 2014March 3, 2014 Shaun

(Warning: some spoilers follow) Exploitative violence. Vicarious sadism. Sensationalism at its finest. These were all the first thoughts I had when, during a story mission, my character Trevor in Grand Theft Auto 5 was given a variety of different tools … Continue reading Why Grand Theft Auto 5’s Torture Mission is important

Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
