Cure for the Box Office: Make Good Movies

August 2, 2013August 7, 2013 Shaun

Last week, I was reading a box office analysis that was addressing why The Lone Ranger failed to generate good returns, and was, for all intents and purposes, a box office flop. The report had all sorts of factors, such … Continue reading Cure for the Box Office: Make Good Movies

July 30, 2013March 3, 2017 Shaun

BioShock 4 was announced! Sort of. Shared with the public  today were two pieces of DLC for BioShock: Infinite. The first is a challenge map pack, which I don’t care about at all and will cease talking about immediately. The … Continue reading BioShock 4 Announced…Pretty Much: The Two-Part “Burial at Sea” DLC

We live in the future. And while we might not (yet) have flying cars or colonies on Mars, we have printers that can make artificial organs, robots that fight our wars, and Superhero movies as ambitious as the times we … Continue reading Superheroes in 2014 – Movie Previews and Release Dates

The Conjuring Will Decide If I Ever Watch Horror Movies Again

July 19, 2013July 24, 2013 Shaun

Warning: Spoilers below…but not of The Conjuring.  Apparently, The Conjuring has been getting really positive reviews, and it looks plenty scary. Typically, I’m not a huge horror fan, but I’d really like to check it out. There’s only one problem … Continue reading The Conjuring Will Decide If I Ever Watch Horror Movies Again

This week, I talk to my dad about why he hates gaming so much. Things get political as we touch on gaming violence, and apparently my dad’s a secret comedian. Shaun: So, dad, you’re not a big fan of videogames. … Continue reading Interview with a Non-Gamer: Conservative Dad Edition

Here’s the twitter for Realistic Pokemon.  Not a lot to this post today, I just found this while perusing ye olde twitter and thought it was neat. The images are pretty incredible, especially considering some of them, like the one … Continue reading Twitter spotlight – Realistic Pokemon

The “Do One Thing Everyday That Scares You” Pledge

July 5, 2013July 10, 2013 Shaun

Eleanor Roosevelt once said “Do one thing everyday that scares you.” Where the normal person reads this quote and probably considers it somewhat neat and moves on, I read it and consider it completely life changing. Hence, the “Do One … Continue reading The “Do One Thing Everyday That Scares You” Pledge

Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
