At the Buzzer Reaches Half a Million Hits!

November 26, 2014December 23, 2014 Chris

It happened a few days ago, but with my work schedule completely destroying me because of the holiday this week, I haven’t had a chance to acknowledge it until now. At the Buzzer has made it to what I think … Continue reading At the Buzzer Reaches Half a Million Hits!

Music to My Ears: Multi-Man Smash

November 12, 2014December 4, 2014 Chris

First introduced in Brawl, the Smash Bros. series seems to be adopting a certain trend with its music. Once a composer comes up with the main theme of a game, such as Nobuo Uematsu’s work for the opening scene in … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Multi-Man Smash

Review: NBA 2K15 (PS4) — Worth a Shot

November 6, 2014November 26, 2014 Chris

Following a mediocre jump to the next-gen systems, 2K Games found itself in an interesting situation — needing to step up its game despite a lack of competition. Sure, the NBA Live franchise still exists in some sense of the … Continue reading Review: NBA 2K15 (PS4) — Worth a Shot

Music to My Ears: Team Aqua/Magma Battle

October 23, 2014November 7, 2014 Chris

Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald is probably my least favorite generation to this point in the series, yet I still find myself excited by the prospect of playing Omega Ruby next month. It’s confusing. Back when the games first came out, I jumped … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Team Aqua/Magma Battle

Review: Tales of Xillia 2 (PS3)

October 16, 2014November 21, 2014 Chris

Tales of Xillia 2 manages to do what Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World could not – be a competent, fun sequel that maintains the spirit of the original game. There are some reviewers out there who complained … Continue reading Review: Tales of Xillia 2 (PS3)

Music to My Ears: Gerudo Valley

October 9, 2014November 6, 2014 Chris

It’s tough to take an iconic theme and make it better. From fan-made covers to other professional composers creating remixes, we’ve seen countless versions of some of the most famous video game songs in history, like the Super Mario Bros. … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Gerudo Valley

“Fall,” or “That Time of Year When Games Kill Wallets”

September 23, 2014September 28, 2014 Chris

Every fall, video game publishers conspire to take all of the money from our wallets. This is a known commodity, but I still fall for it every year. How else to explain the sudden transition from “barely anything is coming … Continue reading “Fall,” or “That Time of Year When Games Kill Wallets”

Music to My Ears: Eternal Mind

September 16, 2014September 21, 2014 Chris

Video game music can fall into a few different categories. Sometimes it’s ambient, settling into the background and only poking its head out at important moments. You know, like Skyrim. Sometimes it’s the focal point, because the game is about … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Eternal Mind

Persona 5 Trailer Debuts, PS4 Version Added

September 1, 2014September 1, 2014 Chris

So it’s official: Persona 5 has a trailer, and it’s not coming out this year. That news isn’t too surprising. We were overdue for some news on the game — but because so few details had been revealed, a 2014 … Continue reading Persona 5 Trailer Debuts, PS4 Version Added

Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
