The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Review: The First 20 Hours

March 12, 2017April 24, 2017 Michaela

When I first started playing Breath of the Wild, I decided that I would do an early review of the first ten hours. March 7, 2017April 15, 2025 M Webber

I’m back with another book review. This was going to be part of the next installment for my “The Quick and the Queer” short queer-centric book reviews, but in celebration of the March 7 release of Benjamin Sáenz’s new novel The Inexplicable … Continue reading Book Review: The Inexplicable Logic of My Life by Benjamin Sáenz

Video Game Minireviews (Mobile Phone Edition)

March 3, 2017April 3, 2017 Michaela

Lately I have been playing more mobile games when I’m waiting for classes to start, and I never thought I’d really enjoy them as much as I do. It’s nice to be able to play them casually and not need … Continue reading Video Game Minireviews (Mobile Phone Edition)

Music to My Ears: Rising Up

February 27, 2017March 8, 2017 Chris

Tales of Zestiria exists in a weird place in my heart. Obviously I’m a huge fan of the series, yet Zestiria just didn’t click with me. It’s a game I really wanted to like, but could never seem to embrace … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Rising Up

February 4, 2017December 28, 2021 Michaela

Gurren Lagann is among my favorite anime shows ever with its engaging story, great cast of characters and epic soundtrack. A couple of years after the show came out, Gurren Lagann was retold in two movies: Childhood’s End and The … Continue reading Gurren Lagann Movies vs Anime

Tales of Berseria released in the States (and a few other places) last week, and unlike other games in the series, we haven’t talked about it much in this space. So let’s fix that today. Berseria has a lot of … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Burn (Tales of Berseria)

Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
