February 24, 2014March 4, 2014 Chris

On Saturday night, Twitch Plays Pokemon accomplished the near-impossible: the stream worked together long enough to catch a Zapdos. The group’s reaction (and my own) was tremendous. People were celebrating and throwing out capital letters like there was no tomorrow. … Continue reading “Twitch Plays Pokemon:” The Zapdos Conundrum

February 23, 2014March 3, 2014 Shaun

(Warning: some spoilers follow) Exploitative violence. Vicarious sadism. Sensationalism at its finest. These were all the first thoughts I had when, during a story mission, my character Trevor in Grand Theft Auto 5 was given a variety of different tools … Continue reading Why Grand Theft Auto 5’s Torture Mission is important

Review: NBA 2K14 (PS4)

February 17, 2014February 25, 2014 Chris

It seems that there are two main opinions of NBA 2K14 on the next-gen systems. 1) It’s a horrendous first offering, with tons of microtransactions, missing game modes and save-breaking glitches. 2) It’s the prettiest and most fluid basketball game … Continue reading Review: NBA 2K14 (PS4)

Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
