Album Analysis: Why Mae’s “The Everglow” Is My Favorite

June 7, 2013June 11, 2013 Shaun

Taken alone, separate from the whole, the songs on Mae’s The Everglow album are adequate. The band’s progressive sound, balanced between Dave Elkin’s versatile, impressive vocal range and a smattering of piano and rock, ensure that each song is, at … Continue reading Album Analysis: Why Mae’s “The Everglow” Is My Favorite

24 Returns to TV: Jack Bauer’s May 2014 Revenge

May 13, 2013 Shaun

Jack Bauer has kicked the daylight out of more terrorists than is reasonable over his career in a series of days that grow less and less probable. So that’s why I’m experiencing heart palpitations about the announcement regarding the return … Continue reading 24 Returns to TV: Jack Bauer’s May 2014 Revenge

Launch of the Geek Force Network

May 7, 2013May 7, 2013 Shaun

The internet is full of assholes. It’s just a fact. Rude, pretentious, temperamental, stuck up, ignorant, arrogant assholes. Coheed and Cambria: Return to Form with The Afterman

March 7, 2013 Shaun

Coheed and Cambria has always been one of my favorite bands. I dig the prog-rock, love their sound, and actually have become pretty invested in their wildly imaginative and indisputably epic science fiction saga covered in their lyrics. No World … Continue reading Coheed and Cambria: Return to Form with The Afterman

Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
