May 7, 2014 Chris

Some surprising (albeit not unexpected) news from Nintendo today: Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire will finally be getting their long-awaited remakes on the 3DS in a worldwide release in November of this year. Almost a decade after Fire Red and Leaf … Continue reading Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Announced for Fall 2014

3DS Sequel to Ace Attorney 5: Dual Destinies Announced – Not Starring Phoenix Wright

April 23, 2014April 23, 2014 Shaun

Earlier this week, Capcom revealed a sequel to the 3DS MASTERPIECE Ace Attorney 5: Dual Destinies. However, calling it a “sequel” is a bit of a stretch – if anything, the game can only be classified as a prequel, and … Continue reading 3DS Sequel to Ace Attorney 5: Dual Destinies Announced – Not Starring Phoenix Wright

My Top 5 Favorite Fire Emblem: Awakening Characters

April 4, 2014May 10, 2018 Michaela

Fire Emblem: Awakening has a stellar cast of characters, each one unique and memorable. They were all so written that it took me a long time to decide who I liked the best without feeling horribly guilty for leaving anyone … Continue reading My Top 5 Favorite Fire Emblem: Awakening Characters

Music to My Ears: Apollo Justice — I’m Fine!

March 19, 2014 Chris

This week, Music to My Ears is taking it slow and telling you that everything’s going to be okay. Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies was one of my favorite games of 2013. We’ll still be doing a group review at some … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Apollo Justice — I’m Fine!

Music to My Ears: Lorule Castle

February 25, 2014March 4, 2014 Chris

Music to My Ears finally gives some love this week to one of the best games of 2013. Before The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds was released, I was a little hesitant, mostly because there had been so … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Lorule Castle

Music to My Ears: Serpent Eating the Ground

February 11, 2014February 19, 2014 Chris

Music to My Ears is looking ahead this week. Bravely Default’s only been out a few days now, but it’s worth featuring right now. “Serpent Eating the Ground” is the final boss theme. I don’t know who the final boss … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Serpent Eating the Ground

Why Ocarina of Time’s Sages are Superior to A Link Between Worlds’

January 29, 2014July 12, 2017 Michaela

A Link Between Worlds is an entertaining game. The gameplay is crafty and extremely fun. The story, while nonexistent in the beginning, has improved and become much more interesting. But as I fight off giant fire turtles and sword-wielding ghosts, … Continue reading Why Ocarina of Time’s Sages are Superior to A Link Between Worlds’

Demo Hate, And The New Bravely Default Story Trailer

January 22, 2014January 22, 2014 Shaun

As I downloaded the Bravely Default demo on my 3DS, it occurred to me how much I actually hate demos of games. I think they’re a waste of time. At best, they just seem like pointless spoilers that will dilute … Continue reading Demo Hate, And The New Bravely Default Story Trailer

Pokemon X and Y: First Impressions

October 15, 2013October 23, 2013 Chris

It’s not surprising to me that I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my time with Pokemon Y so far. After all, we pretty much know what to expect from a Pokemon game at this point — the only question is going to … Continue reading Pokemon X and Y: First Impressions

Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
