Whose Line Taping: The Ups and Downs (But Mostly Ups)

February 3, 2014July 7, 2015 Chris

Last weekend, we headed over to California to get away for a weekend. Part of the experience was heading over to Hollywood to see a taping of the improv comedy show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” I remember watching episodes … Continue reading Whose Line Taping: The Ups and Downs (But Mostly Ups)

“Frozen” Destroys the Box Office — Round Two

January 28, 2014February 11, 2014 Chris

The list of accolades for Disney’s Frozen is turning into a pretty lengthy one. It became just the seventh movie in the last 50 years to be No. 1 at the box office on two separate occasions at least six … Continue reading “Frozen” Destroys the Box Office — Round Two

Music to My Ears: Kids Run Through the City

January 28, 2014February 4, 2014 Chris

Music to My Ears continues as a post every Tuesday with back-to-back Final Fantasy games. This was completely unintentional but it happened anyway so HEY MAN LEAVE ME ALONE I DON’T KNOW Final Fantasy VI was one of the first … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Kids Run Through the City

Music to My Ears: Battle With Seymour

January 21, 2014January 28, 2014 Chris

Today represents a bit of a change for Music to My Ears — I’m going to make it a weekly feature and focus more on individual songs than entire soundtracks (although there will be exceptions). I figure there’s way too … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Battle With Seymour

Board Game Review: Formula D

January 20, 2014February 2, 2014 Chris

There are times when board games mimic other forms of entertainment like video games, movies, books and the like by allowing you to immerse yourself in a new character. It’s sort of like what you did with your imagination as … Continue reading Board Game Review: Formula D

Christmas Review: Mixing Bowl and Lumps of Coal

December 28, 2013January 20, 2014 Chris

Another Christmas has gone by the wayside, which is a little hard to believe. Part of that is because this was the shortest possible time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I think the bigger culprit is that I’m getting old. … Continue reading Christmas Review: Mixing Bowl and Lumps of Coal

Adventures with CenturyLink: Nonexistent Existing Internet

December 23, 2013January 23, 2014 Chris

This is part 2 of our ongoing saga with CenturyLink. That’s right, something this sad has happened before. This is a story of payback and redemption. Wait. This is a story of the absence of payback, and the absence of … Continue reading Adventures with CenturyLink: Nonexistent Existing Internet

Mini-Review: Grand Theft Auto V

December 6, 2013January 21, 2014 Chris

Grand Theft Auto V isn’t a bad game. Hell, I’d go so far as to call it good. I just don’t see what makes it the best game of our generation or anything of the sort. GTA V expands on … Continue reading Mini-Review: Grand Theft Auto V

Persona 5 Announced; Chair as Main Character?

November 28, 2013December 28, 2013 Chris

After what seemed like forever for an announcement, a short teaser trailer for Persona 5 dropped last week — and the game might be releasing sooner than anyone would have expected. We went from virtually no news about the Persona … Continue reading Persona 5 Announced; Chair as Main Character?

The PS4 Conundrum: To Buy or Not To Buy

November 19, 2013December 23, 2013 Chris

The Playstation 4 came out a few days ago. I stared at one longingly in our local Gamestop. But I didn’t pull the trigger to become one of the early adopters (you know, before they ran out of units at … Continue reading The PS4 Conundrum: To Buy or Not To Buy

Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
