Coheed and Cambria: Return to Form with The Afterman

March 7, 2013 Shaun

Coheed and Cambria has always been one of my favorite bands. I dig the prog-rock, love their sound, and actually have become pretty invested in their wildly imaginative and indisputably epic science fiction saga covered in their lyrics. No World … Continue reading Coheed and Cambria: Return to Form with The Afterman

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Announced

February 28, 2013 Shaun

Black Flag? I knew it. I freaking called it. Ask our tech guy. While I was playing Assassin’s Creed 3, I said “For the next Assassin’s Creed, they should go pirates. I’d play the s*** out of a pirate game. … Continue reading Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Announced

Microsoft to announce new Xbox 720 in April

February 27, 2013 Shaun

New Xbox Announcement? Chris said it best when he reacted to PS4’s announcement with a resounding “meh.” All the features are okay, but here’s my question: as gamers, do we care about all that Vita connectivity BS, or do we … Continue reading Microsoft to announce new Xbox 720 in April

Playstation 4: The Future is Meh

February 20, 2013February 23, 2013 Chris

NOTE: These reactions are to some very early announcements and are more of a stream of consciousness thing. Still, here’s what I think about the PS4 so far… The Playstation 4 will have “experiences that surpass gamers’ wildest expectations.” Sure, … Continue reading Playstation 4: The Future is Meh

Han Solo back for Star Wars: Episode VII

February 15, 2013 Shaun

It’s being reported that Harrison Ford has informally agreed to reprise his role as Han-Solo for Star Wars: Episode VII. And from a legitimate source, too! I never really understood the deep adoration many fans feel for the character; he’s … Continue reading Han Solo back for Star Wars: Episode VII

Review From a Gaming Expert – DmC: Devil May Cry (5)

January 23, 2013January 28, 2013 Shaun

Devil May Cry is the best game of 2012. I realize that it’s 2013 now, and that acknowledgement doesn’t really mean anything. But it does. Out of all the games released last year, Capcom’s reimagining of their over-the-top action franchise … Continue reading Review From a Gaming Expert – DmC: Devil May Cry (5)

Thoughts on the Pokemon X and Y Announcement Trailer

January 8, 2013January 8, 2013 Shaun

Well…it’s officially the most excited I’ve been for a Pokemon game in a very long time. “How can that be?” you asked, perplexed at the seeming impulsiveness of my statement. “They literally talked about zero features.”  Well, you’re right. Zero. … Continue reading Thoughts on the Pokemon X and Y Announcement Trailer

Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
