Chris and Shaun Review E3: Microsoft

June 9, 2014June 16, 2014 Gray Areas

Chris: In years past, I’ve looked at E3 as having the potential to be the biggest day of the year for video games. It’s like Christmas, right? But that road only led to disappointment, especially the last couple years. I’m … Continue reading Chris and Shaun Review E3: Microsoft

Now that I’m on summer break, I finally have more time to watch anime movies. This list is the result of watching the movies with friends or at the NAU Anime Club in the last year and a half, so … Continue reading Anime Movie Reviews

Review: Steins;Gate and the Importance of Consistency

May 16, 2014March 6, 2017 Chris

The beauty of Steins;Gate is in the details. If you’re the type of person who wants elaborate fight scenes or giant mechs in their anime, your first instinct will be to steer clear. But if you do, you’ll be missing … Continue reading Review: Steins;Gate and the Importance of Consistency

May 2, 2014March 4, 2017 Michaela

Just as before, here’s a list of what I’ve been able to watch as of late, and the scores based on my experience with each show and whether or not I would recommend them. Code Geass (R1): 5/10 The dynamic … Continue reading Scoring the Best and Worst Anime I’ve Seen Round 3

By Michael Shaffer Ever heard of Video Games Live? Think of some of the best video game music that’s out there played by an orchestra and chorale, with short films, live video game play on a massive screen, and a … Continue reading Guest Post: Aural Nerdgasm: Video Games Live

March 6, 2014March 31, 2014 Shaun

This past week, my sister and I decided to conduct a social experiment. Review: NBA 2K14 (PS4)

February 17, 2014February 25, 2014 Chris

It seems that there are two main opinions of NBA 2K14 on the next-gen systems. 1) It’s a horrendous first offering, with tons of microtransactions, missing game modes and save-breaking glitches. 2) It’s the prettiest and most fluid basketball game … Continue reading Review: NBA 2K14 (PS4)

44 Hours into Bravely Default

January 22, 2014February 10, 2014 Shaun

BioShock 4: Burial at Sea Episode 1 Review – DLC done right As readers of At The Buzzer already (should) know, I considered Burial at Sea, the first episode of BioShock Infinite DLC, to be like BioShock 4. Between the … Continue reading Review – BioShock 4: Burial at Sea (Episode 1)

Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
