“Twitch Plays Pokemon”: Descent into Madness

February 19, 2014April 27, 2014 Chris

About a week ago, a new sensation started somewhat quietly on Twitch. Thanks to an IRC script that allowed commands to be relayed, viewers were treated to an interesting experience: trying to go through Pokemon Red with everyone in the … Continue reading “Twitch Plays Pokemon”: Descent into Madness

Music to My Ears: Bowser’s Lava Lake Keep

February 18, 2014February 24, 2014 Chris

Music to My Ears continues this week with a look at a song from a game I haven’t even played yet! Woahhhhhh! “Bowser’s Lava Lake Keep” is the background music for a stage that leads to Bowser. It’s from Super … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Bowser’s Lava Lake Keep

Review: NBA 2K14 (PS4)

February 17, 2014February 25, 2014 Chris

It seems that there are two main opinions of NBA 2K14 on the next-gen systems. 1) It’s a horrendous first offering, with tons of microtransactions, missing game modes and save-breaking glitches. 2) It’s the prettiest and most fluid basketball game … Continue reading Review: NBA 2K14 (PS4)

Social Rejections of a Gamer Girl

February 12, 2014April 6, 2014 Michaela

My high school was not big. It was fairly normal sized, maybe even small by some standards. And by the time senior year rolled around, almost everyone in the senior class at least recognized each other. I was feeling more … Continue reading Social Rejections of a Gamer Girl

Music to My Ears: Serpent Eating the Ground

February 11, 2014February 19, 2014 Chris

Music to My Ears is looking ahead this week. Bravely Default’s only been out a few days now, but it’s worth featuring right now. “Serpent Eating the Ground” is the final boss theme. I don’t know who the final boss … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Serpent Eating the Ground

Number Fifteen With a Bullet

February 10, 2014February 18, 2014 Chris

I haven’t had to do a bullets post in like four months now! I mean, sure, we weren’t able to update the site for three months. That’s fair. But I don’t see why that’s my fault. The bigger issue is … Continue reading Number Fifteen With a Bullet

Music to My Ears: vs. Team Flare Boss

February 4, 2014February 16, 2014 Chris

Music to My Ears continues its regular Tuesday deal with a look at my favorite track from the recently released Pokemon X and Y. To be fair, a certain French professor’s theme and the power plant music are close, but…some … Continue reading Music to My Ears: vs. Team Flare Boss

Why Ocarina of Time’s Sages are Superior to A Link Between Worlds’

January 29, 2014July 12, 2017 Michaela

A Link Between Worlds is an entertaining game. The gameplay is crafty and extremely fun. The story, while nonexistent in the beginning, has improved and become much more interesting. But as I fight off giant fire turtles and sword-wielding ghosts, … Continue reading Why Ocarina of Time’s Sages are Superior to A Link Between Worlds’

Music to My Ears: Kids Run Through the City

January 28, 2014February 4, 2014 Chris

Music to My Ears continues as a post every Tuesday with back-to-back Final Fantasy games. This was completely unintentional but it happened anyway so HEY MAN LEAVE ME ALONE I DON’T KNOW Final Fantasy VI was one of the first … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Kids Run Through the City

Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
