An Extremely Timely Review of the 2019 Royal Rumble

March 7, 2019June 26, 2019 Chris

I’ve been doing annual reviews of WWE events over the last few years — a Wrestlemania here, a SummerSlam there. Perhaps my favorite event, though, is the Royal Rumble, especially since they added a women’s version. That means you get … Continue reading An Extremely Timely Review of the 2019 Royal Rumble

Wrestlemania 34 Review: Blood, Sweat and Tears — and More Blood

April 9, 2018May 21, 2018 Chris

A night after a phenomenal NXT Takeover (seriously, go watch Gargano/Ciampa and the six-man ladder match if you haven’t already), Wrestlemania 34 was faced with its usual task of trying to provide something for everyone. That’s a tough sell, especially … Continue reading Wrestlemania 34 Review: Blood, Sweat and Tears — and More Blood

Blazing a Trail: The Success of the 2018 Royal Rumble

January 29, 2018March 5, 2018 Chris

For the last decade or so, the Royal Rumble has been an exercise in disappointment. Year after year we’ve seen mediocre storylines, poor match pacing and unwanted winners. You can argue that fans haven’t been happy with the end result … Continue reading Blazing a Trail: The Success of the 2018 Royal Rumble

The Fall Video Game Lookahead, 2017 Edition

September 21, 2017November 6, 2017 Chris

Each year, the summer comes and goes and we hurtle head-first into fall. Usually that means a full slate of upcoming games that I’m extremely interested in picking up. That’s not the case this year, and I think it’s strange. … Continue reading The Fall Video Game Lookahead, 2017 Edition

SummerSlam 2017 Review: Beach Balls and Beef Mauls

August 22, 2017September 25, 2017 Chris

One of the problems WWE faces with its “Big 4” events is bloat. Between the pre-show and the main card, events like Wrestlemania and the Royal Rumble turn into six- to seven-hour affairs, which can be a bit overwhelming for … Continue reading SummerSlam 2017 Review: Beach Balls and Beef Mauls

Wrestlemania 33 Review: Great Start, Meh Finish

April 3, 2017May 8, 2017 Chris

I have a few passions that I don’t really get to talk about much because other folks on the podcast don’t share those interests. I’m an avid watcher of Critical Role. I’m a big fan of the fighting game community, … Continue reading Wrestlemania 33 Review: Great Start, Meh Finish

Missing the Mark: Why the 2015 Royal Rumble was Disappointing

February 3, 2015February 27, 2015 Chris

I know, we don’t really cover wrestling a lot around here. Or at all. Just bear with me here. Last weekend was the second-biggest event of the year, the Royal Rumble. The Rumble sets the stage for the next few … Continue reading Missing the Mark: Why the 2015 Royal Rumble was Disappointing

Music to My Ears: Alter Bridge — Metalingus

April 8, 2014April 16, 2014 Chris

This week, Music to My Ears is stretching the definition of video game music a little bit. Wrestlemania 30 was this past weekend, and for the first time in a long while, I watched the event in full. You can … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Alter Bridge — Metalingus

Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
