Chris and Shaun Review E3: Microsoft

June 9, 2014June 16, 2014 Gray Areas

Chris: In years past, I’ve looked at E3 as having the potential to be the biggest day of the year for video games. It’s like Christmas, right? But that road only led to disappointment, especially the last couple years. I’m … Continue reading Chris and Shaun Review E3: Microsoft

Number Thirteen With a Bullet

July 29, 2013August 2, 2013 Chris

I spent a lot of time in the last week revamping our Youtube page, working on solutions for the live show, and losing games of Smash Up. So it wasn’t all bad. Plus, Dave and Molly managed to make it … Continue reading Number Thirteen With a Bullet

June 10, 2013June 10, 2013 Chris

Well, I didn’t think I was going to be amazed by anything at E3, but the way Sony has destroyed Microsoft? That caught my attention. Let’s be clear: Somehow, Sony managed to reveal the PS4 before any announcements were made … Continue reading PS4 Details Emerge; $399, Later This Year

Number Twelve With a Bullet

June 10, 2013June 14, 2013 Chris

Chinese proverb: If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape a hundred days of bullets. We survived the month of May. I’m not sure if people understand what a monumental achievement that was with everything that … Continue reading Number Twelve With a Bullet

Xbox One: Feel the Excitement?

May 21, 2013 Chris

I just don’t get it. I don’t. I thought gamers were taking part in the “video games” genre, yet all I watched for the last hour were tech demos, sports, a TV guide and a dog in Call of Duty. … Continue reading Xbox One: Feel the Excitement?

The New Voice of Halo

November 11, 2012November 20, 2012 Jason

Halo 4 is a great game. Some might claim that it’s one of the best shooters to be made in years or that it’s revolutionary for the genre… I don’t know if I’d go so far to say that. But … Continue reading The New Voice of Halo

Kinect the Dots

November 25, 2011July 6, 2012 Shaun

Is it better to be hated or ignored? That is the question the Microsoft Kinect set out to answer when it launched. Although it initially sold well, the Kinect, along with the Sony Move, has gone on to be one of the greatest technological gaming failures of the last decade. Let’s count the ways. Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
