So apparently Rob Letterman, director of Monsters vs. Aliens, is in talks to direct Goosebumps: The Movie.
And that’s fine, whatever. The part that I’m stoked about? THERE IS GOING TO BE A GOOSEBUMPS: THE MOVIE.
Maybe it’s because I’m an uncultured heathen, but Goosebumps was one of my favorite book series growing up. I read all 3,000 installments, and found the mix of humor, horror, and tension to always be engaging. R.L. Stine is my homeboy, and often find myself wondering what ever happened to him as I stare at his framed photo covered in rose petals and candle wax.

My question is what are they going to do for plot? Sequels within the Goosebumps universe were rare, and to my knowledge, none of the stories really ever crossed over in any meaningful way (at all?) Would it be a collection of short vignettes, sort of like VHS or a disconnected Trick or Treat? Or will they simply follow the plot of one of their more popular story lines? Which would you like to see converted to the big screen? My votes are “Welcome to Camp Nightmare,” “Night of the Living Dummy,” “Cuckoo Clock of Doom,” and “Beast from the East.”
Let’s just hope it’s better than the television show…

This is mad, my boyfriend and I were literally talking about Goosebumps today and the video games and the TV show that went with it. I loved the books so much, I hope they do it right! And I hope they do one of my favourites! I am definitely going to be keeping tabs on this.
Right? Life-changing. I’m sort of hoping they go with computer animated flair, only because the live action’s been done already through the television series.
True, but using animation could ruin a bit of the feel to it. I actually liked the TV series, it scared the hell out of me. (I am easily scared, but that’s besides the point) I am definitely going to end up fishing all my Goosebumps books out this weekend and having a flick through them.
Hm…yeah, you could be right on that. Live action could give it the feel of the goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark TV series. The clown episode still gives me nightmares…
Or Say Cheese. That one scared me so much!
