Really wonderful show! Thanks for the notice about The Last Airbender: The Movie — will avoid like the plague. If we’re all still around by the time I get to Avatar Season 3 (cause it’s probably gonna take awhile), I’ll let you know how it goes.
Unrelated: what’s the music used right before the second segment? It’s great and sounds quite like something something Mega Man.
The post-break bumper this week was Battle #2 from the underappreciated SNES RPG classic Lufia 2.
Battle #3 is also a fantastic track.
Both are brilliant — thanks! A lot of great game music came out of the SNES era. Orchestral symphonies and sweeping ballads are all well and good, but they somehow can’t quite compete with that 16-bit feeling.
I love the 16-bit era of music. So many great soundtracks. Without the benefit of an impressive-sounding orchestra, composers had to create memorable melodies and harmonies out of the tools at their disposal, and it shows.
