D20 for Valentine’s Day: In defense of Dungeons and Dragons

February 13, 2014February 13, 2014 Shaun

This Valentine’s Day, cut the crap. Flowers die. Poems—let’s be honest—suck. If you think you can write a poem, chances are very high that you can’t. Candy makes you super fat—and let’s not even get started on the diseases! No, … Continue reading D20 for Valentine’s Day: In defense of Dungeons and Dragons

Social Rejections of a Gamer Girl

February 12, 2014April 6, 2014 Michaela

My high school was not big. It was fairly normal sized, maybe even small by some standards. And by the time senior year rolled around, almost everyone in the senior class at least recognized each other. I was feeling more … Continue reading Social Rejections of a Gamer Girl

Music to My Ears: Serpent Eating the Ground

February 11, 2014February 19, 2014 Chris

Music to My Ears is looking ahead this week. Bravely Default’s only been out a few days now, but it’s worth featuring right now. “Serpent Eating the Ground” is the final boss theme. I don’t know who the final boss … Continue reading Music to My Ears: Serpent Eating the Ground

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea Episode 2 DLC to Feature Crossbow

February 10, 2014 Shaun

I swear, every new piece of information I hear confirms my believe that BioShock Infinite’s two part DLC, Burial at Sea, would have been better served as BioShock 4. Today’s confirmation of that belief comes in the form of a … Continue reading BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea Episode 2 DLC to Feature Crossbow

Number Fifteen With a Bullet

February 10, 2014February 18, 2014 Chris

I haven’t had to do a bullets post in like four months now! I mean, sure, we weren’t able to update the site for three months. That’s fair. But I don’t see why that’s my fault. The bigger issue is … Continue reading Number Fifteen With a Bullet

Is a Gamefly Membership worth your money?

February 8, 2014March 7, 2017 Shaun

As someone who has used Gamefly’s services various times in the past (along with similar knock-offs like the Blockbuster mailing rental system – may it rest in peace in the big outlet mall in the sky), I thought I could … Continue reading Is a Gamefly Membership worth your money?

Music to My Ears: vs. Team Flare Boss

February 4, 2014February 16, 2014 Chris

Music to My Ears continues its regular Tuesday deal with a look at my favorite track from the recently released Pokemon X and Y. To be fair, a certain French professor’s theme and the power plant music are close, but…some … Continue reading Music to My Ears: vs. Team Flare Boss

Grading the Superbowl 2014 commercials: Why So Serious?

February 3, 2014February 3, 2014 Shaun

I noticed an odd trend this year in the Superbowl commercials, and I’m not sure that I was a big fan. Maybe I’m the only one who feels this way, but typically, Superbowl commercials tend to follow trends every year … Continue reading Grading the Superbowl 2014 commercials: Why So Serious?

Whose Line Taping: The Ups and Downs (But Mostly Ups)

February 3, 2014July 7, 2015 Chris

Last weekend, we headed over to California to get away for a weekend. Part of the experience was heading over to Hollywood to see a taping of the improv comedy show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” I remember watching episodes … Continue reading Whose Line Taping: The Ups and Downs (But Mostly Ups)

Gray Areas

Gray Areas is a pop culture extravaganza with a live weekly podcast every Thursday night, daily Let's Play videos, and a bevy of old blog posts for your enjoyment.

The current crew includes Chris, Dave and Shaun, who have been there since the beginning, and Cody, who joined in 2021. We also have other contributors like Michaela who chip in from time to time.

We cover everything from video games, anime and movies to music, books and idiots in the news.

This whole thing was started as At the Buzzer in February 2011, the brainchild of three men desperate for attention. It became Objection Network in 2017 and then this in 2024. It’s slightly related to an old Flagstaff radio show from 2008, kinda like how Frasier was slightly related to Cheers. In other words, we're all getting old and it's a little depressing.
