Chris and Jason embark on a saga known as Resonance of Fate. Neither has ever played the game before, so learning 754 battle mechanics at the same time is sure to be entertaining! (We had a problem with the audio in this part — sorry in advance!)
We’ll be playing through the main story missions of this game, stopping to do sidequest stuff when we need levels or equipment. We’ll also be trying to understand how Zephyr is the name of a person. Seriously. Zephyr. (NOTE: ONE YEAR LATER, we’ve returned to post the rest of these videos. Spoiler alert, we didn’t beat the game.)
Keep sliding and firing those guns! Game on.

I keep thinking I should go back and finish this game. Problem is, there’s always been so much time between when I stopped playing and when I get back into it that I have to start again… Unfortunately I just get to a point where the novelty of the combat system has worn off, and I get stuck because I can’t be bothered learning every little intricacy of it.
Yeah, I’m really torn about Resonance of Fate. Some of the battle mechanics are smart and intuitive. The soundtrack is solid as a whole. The characters are interesting (and I know Zephyr improves eventually). But…there’s almost too many things happening at once, even by JRPG standards. It made RoF an extremely difficult game to do a let’s play series about because we couldn’t talk and learn at the same time, and picking it up after a lull was almost impossible, as you mentioned.
I want to love RoF, but I don’t think I can.
